City Hall updates status on internal Covid cases

Chapala’s Urban Planning Office is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, November 24, after closing its doors November 6 when four of its eight staffers were diagnosed with Covid-19.

The Clínica Municipal (municipal clinic) continues to attend to medical emergency only due to the absence of personnel infected with the virus.

Chapala City Hall officials report that two government employees have been stricken with respiratory difficulties; one has fully recovered, and a new suspected case is pending confirmation. The chief of the Rural Development Office succumbed to Covid on September 29. The disease has also hit staff in the parks and gardens maintenance and public works departments.

As of November 19, Jalisco’s Health Department (SSJ) had registered an accumulated total of 237 confirmed Covid-19 cases for the entire municipality, an increase of 17 since last week. The death count remains unchanged at 12.

The latest SSJ count for Jocotepec stands at 172 confirmed cases, up by eight over the past week, with four new fatalities for a total of 15. Cases in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos are up to 351 with 12 new confirmations; four added deaths bringing that tally to 11.  Six new cases in Poncitlán make for 245 in total, while deaths stand at 18.
