Looking for a convenient and low-cost option to be tested for Covid-19?
As of Wednesday, September 1, the Lakeside branch of Walmart is offering rapid antigen tests for detection of the SARS-Cov-2 virus, priced at 199 pesos.
The diagnostic exam by nasopharynx swab is available by prior appointment in a white tent set up on the east side of the store’s parking lot. The type of test is the Abbott Panbio brand approved by Mexico’s federal health watchdog agencies COFEPRIS and INDRE.
The test site will operate daily, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Customers are advised to arrive ten minutes prior to the appointment time. Test results will be processed in 15 to 20 minutes. A copy can be sent via email if requested.
Appointments may be arranged by cell phone through the QR code posted at the entrance of the tent or online registration at intl-cvx-scheduler.wal-mart.com.mx.
One hour prior to testing, customers are advised to refrain from consuming food, breath lozenges, chewing gum, and from using mouthwash. Avoid nose cleansing two hours beforehand.
