Gloria Perales (left), head of the international relations desk for the Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos municipal government, was in charge of arrangements for the visit of Canadian Consul Lewis Coughlin.
She previously served as the Chapala government’s expatriate community liaison during the 2015-2018 administration.
She has a hunch that Ixtlahuacán is the up-and-coming destination for full-time and seasonal foreign residents. Conveniently located close to Lake Chapala’s northshore amenities and only a 15-minute drive to the Guadalajara airport, she points out that the town is neat and attractive, easy to navigate on foot or by car, and boasts the region’s best deals in the real estate market.
