Chapala bus depot back in business

Autotransportes Guadalajara-Chapala has resumed normal service at the Chapala bus depot at the corner of Avenida Madero and Miguel Martínez after an eight-week temporary relocation to the public parking lot situated two blocks to the north opposite the municipal soccer field.

The provisional move of the bus station and its adjacent taxi stand was necessary due to the closure of intersections at Miguel Martínez and Raúl Navarro during the latest stage of the Madero rebuild.

As of Tuesday, January 16 the entire northbound stretch of the main avenue as far as the Coppel department store has reopened to through traffic. Detours continue beyond that point. Although the flow of vehicles improved significantly this week, construction crews are still finishing up work on garden planters and structural details between Calles Degollado and Raúl Navarro, causing some impediments for pedestrians.

Mayor Alejandro Aguirre has announced that enterprises located on Madero will get a 50-percent discount on their 2024 business licenses in compensation for inconveniences to customers and the consequent loss of income provoked by the prolonged makeover project.
