Coffee, Chocolate & Wine fest returns

A cornucopia of enticing taste treats from different regions of Mexico will be showcased during the third annual Festival del Café, Chocolate y Vino, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21, at the Ajijic Malecón, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Coming together under the slogan “Routes with Flavor,” more than 80 exhibitors from Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes,, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Veracruz, Chihuahua and Baja California will be on hand to offer an array of table wines, coffee varieties, chocolates and cacao derivatives,  as well tequila, mezcal, craft beer, and gourmet cheeses, breads and charcuterie.

Visitors will also find assorted artisan craft goods and works by artists Alfredo Manriquez, Víctor Alcaráz, Saúl López and Belva Velasquez on display. Souvenir wine goblets and mugs will be on sale at the entrance to the exhibit tents.

Saturday’s live entertainment, 4 to 7 p.m., features music by Javier Raygoza, Black Sapphire Jazz, Elizzet and Las Parranderas.  The Sunday lineup includes repeat appearances by Javier Raygoza and Black Sapphire, interspersed with performances by the Zaida Zamudio Ballet Folklórico and Coro Redes y Cantos.

Admittance to the fair is free of charge.  Guided wine and cheese, wine and chocolate, and mezcal and insect taste pairing experiences are scheduled for both days between 4:45, 6 and 7:15 p.m., for 480 pesos per session. Based on attendance at the 2023 festival, organizers anticipate that the event will draw more than 25,000 visitors this year.
