The race is now on for election of the person who will next hold the reins at Chapala City Hall. The field recently expanded to six contenders, with two female runners added to the starting lineup.
Celina Guadalupe “Lupita” Cevallos Gálvez is registered for Partido Verde Ecologista de México (PVEM). She initiated her campaign at one minute after midnight on March 31, gathering with supporters at the Chapala Malecon to deposit a symbolic offering of flowers and coffee in the lake.
The other distaff candidate is Ángeles Zavala Ortega for the Hagamos party. Delaying her campaign kickoff until Wednesday, April 3, she led a group of followers in door-to-door visits with inhabitants of San Antonio Tlayacapan.
