Recycling of Lakeside Chapala volunteer Brad Wiesnewski created quite a sensation at the Ribera Medical Center when he arrived last week with two large sacks of plastic bottle caps as a donation to a campaign to support children and adolescents afflicted with cancer.
“The receptionist told me to put ones I brought into the box and her expression was priceless when I told her they wouldn’t fit,” Wiesnewski says.
RMC is cooperating with Banco de Tapitas A.C., a non-profit NGO that recycles bottle caps to help funds treatment for young cancer patients. In addition help from a new partner at the lakeside recycling center, the Tapitas project employs heart-shaped collection cages placed at plazas in Ajijic and San Antonio Tlayacapan.
