Laurie Clark

Ajijic resident Laurie Clark died peacefully with friends at her side on May 17 at the age of 47.

Born February 3, 1966 in Point Claire, Quebec, Clark grew up in Bracebridge, Ontario, where she attended school from 1974 to 1985. She graduated from Wilfred Laurier University in Kitchener, Ontario, with Bachelor of Arts and Business Administration degrees in 1989. She worked as a regional sales manager for Best Foods until 1998, when she and her husband moved to Ajijic.

She had married Graeme Clark in 1996.

After the couple moved to Ajijic, Clark worked as the office manager for Eager and Associates Real Estate, then moved on to Casa de Bolsa Multiva as a financial consultant in 2000 and finally, to Actinver Casa de Bolsa in 2012. Her husband passed away in 2002.

Clark was best known for a captivating smile, a welcoming spirit and an infectious laugh. She was an animal lover and had the energy and excitement of a small child. She sought adventure and knowledge at every turn, continuously invested in learning new skills and in her higher self. Her time was spent teaching and learning from others, practicing yoga, meditation and tai chi, attending cultural events, local markets and socializing with friends, clients and co-workers as well as traveling throughout Mexico, Canada, Europe and the United States.

Clark’s home reflects her love of color, the clothing, music and paintings by local Ajijic artists, books of cultural cooking, spiritual growth and fictional tales of authors lives. Better known as a selfless soul, she was always thinking of others needs before her own and was up to sharing good conversation and giggles over a meal or a cup of coffee whenever asked. To her many friends and family across the globe, be well and carry her spirit with you on your journey in life. All who knew her will miss her dearly.

Clark’s father John Baron predeceased her in 2001. She is survived by her mother, Janett Baron, of Cambridge, Ontario and her sister Helen Baron of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She also has relatives on her maternal and paternal sides residing in Canada and England.

A memorial service was held May 21 at Actinver-Ajijic.
