James Nelson Sublett

James Nelson Sublett Sr. passed away at his home in San Antonio Tlayacapan, Jalisco, Mexico on May 5 at the age of 74.

Born on July 19, 1938, in Eastland, Texas, Sublett joined the United States Navy in 1955 and after a three-year tour of duty, went back to his roots in Texas where he spent the next 50 years working as an electrician.

Sublett and his wife Belva retired to Ajijic in 2004. He had many passions that included hunting, gardening, cooking, drawing and painting.

Sublett is survived by his wife of 35 years, Belva Sublett of San Antonio Tlayacapan and his brother Leonard Elliot Sublett of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by daughter Cherie L. Sublett of Riverview, Florida and her son Alex James; daughter Lisa Sublett Walker, her husband Joe, and their children Michael, Jodi, Ryan, Alexis, Maci, Britton, Leah, Erika and Juliana of Burleson, Texas; daughter Stephanie Sublett and her children, B.J., Seth, and Shea of Burleson, Texas; daughter Laura Blackmon, her husband Mike, and their children Austin, Caitlin, Alexandra, and Bryan of Robinson, Texas; son James Nelson Sublett Jr. of Cisco, Texas; son Larry Morton, his wife Emma, and their children Gage and Gunner of Alvarado, Texas; and son Lonnie Sublett, his wife Cynthia, and their children, Cedric and Landon of Chesapeake, Virginia. Sublett had six great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Sublett’s life in the upcoming months. The time, date and location will be announced.
The family asks that any donation be made to the National Rifleman’s Association in lieu of flowers.
