Born December 10, 1942 in Shawinigan, Quebec, Godin completed her education at a secretarial college before working for a finance company for three years. She then became the secretary for the manager and mayor of the city of Shawinigan. During that time, Godin served in the Canadian Army Reserves for six years, attaining the rank of sergeant. She worked in various executive assistance positions throughout her career.

Godin married her second husband Jacques Girard in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec on December 15, 1984. They moved to Ottawa, where they spent their remaining working years.

Godin retired in 2001 from the Public Service Alliance Canada in Ottawa, Ontario.  Her husband retired at the same time and the couple moved to Ajijic that year.

Godin enjoyed stained-glass making, gardening, reading and music. She joined Los Cantantes del Lago in 2008, performing in numerous concerts and participating in the choir’s tour around central Mexico in 2009.

Godin is survived by her son Christian Baribeau of Halifax, Nova Scotia and her daughter Isabelle Baribeau of Vancouver, British Colombia. She has three grandchildren: Danielle, Sabrina and Matthew. She has one sister, Camille, and two brothers, Robert and Jules.

Godin will be missed by her many friends and family.  The family is grateful for all the support she received from friends and neighbors during the last days of her life. She will be interred beside her beloved Jacques, who predeceased her, in the Beachwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario.
