Bank robberies drop by half

There were 47 bank robberies in Jalisco during the first ten months of the year, down about half on the same period in 2011.

The state experienced a record 112 heists last year, of which 70 percent took place in the Guadalajara metropolitan area.

Despite this dramatic reduction, Jalisco banks remain the second most targeted in Mexico, behind the State of Mexico, which reported 96 robberies up until November 1.

Nationwide, there were 434 bank heists during this time frame, the National Public Security System (SNSP) revealed this week.
