UN survey to poll 200,000 Jalisco residents

The United Nations’ MY World global survey that aims to define a new development agenda for the world is coming to Jalisco on December 4.

Through online and offline methods, MY World asks individuals which six of 16 possible issues they think would make the most difference to their lives.

Around 200,000 citizens will be polled in the state of Jalisco.  More than two-thirds of the questionnaires will be filled out manually, and the rest completed online at Jalisco.myworld2015.org.

Running over five months, the survey will involve 350 volunteers, 200 of whom will be students and include people of all ages, genders and backgrounds, particularly in poor and marginalized communities.   The volunteers will aim to reach all 125 municipalities in the state.

The 16 issues highlighted in the survey have been built up from the priorities expressed by poor people in existing research and polling exercises and they cover the existing U.N. Millennium Development Goals, plus issues of sustainability, security, governance and transparency.
