Congress pledges to ditch bottled water

The Jalisco state legislature looks to be keeping its word about environmental sustainability and adhering to a “green” agenda.

This week, Congress’ administrative committee passed a motion to outlaw plastic bottles of water throughout the legislative complex located to one side of Guadalajara’s Plaza de le Liberacion.

The measure will not come into effect until 2017, once details are worked out to exactly how the bottles will be substituted.  Independent legislator Pedro Kumamoto, noted that Congress spends around 87,000 pesos a year on bottled water.
