Mother’s Day: Chapala & GDL metro-area cemeteries to stay closed

Residents of Guadalajara and the citizens of Chapala will not be allowed to pay tribute to deceased matriarchs on Mother’s Day with customary visits to their gravesites.

All cemeteries will remain closed throughout Sunday, May 10, under current restrictions in force throughout Jalisco to reduce the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The mayors of both Zapopan and Guadalajara said police officers and municipal inspectors will dispatched on Mother’s Day to ensure that restaurants hosting celebrants adhere to sanitary regulations and guidelines.

Meanwhile, Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya released a public notice this week advising constituents to avoid holding traditional Dia de las Madres family reunions and opt instead for staying safely at home.
