Public transport to be restricted during two-week partial lockdown

With Covid-19 cases rising in Jalisco, Governor Enrique Alfaro has announced new mitigation measures for the state that will go into force Friday, October 30 and stay in place for two weeks.

for no 3Referred to as the Botón de Emergencia (emergency button), the restrictions will mean that all non-essential business – as well as social activity – must cease on weekdays between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next day, as well as throughout the weekend (Saturday and Sunday), until 6 a.m. the following Monday (see story page one).

An important part of the mitigation effort will be the suspension of public transportation in the evenings and on weekends. With restaurants, bars, malls, supermarkets and businesses all targeted for closures during the temporary 14-day measure, authorities aim to reduce conglomerations of people – plus reduce a sharp rise in partying – and thus slow down Covid-19 transmission.
