Governor ditches proof-of-vax requirement

Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro announced the end of the obligation to present a Covid-19 vaccination certificate or negative test result to enter large-scale events and access bars and clubs in the state.

pg1bIn addition, all public venues, including stadiums, cinemas, theaters, restaurants, bars and night clubs, can resume normal operations at full capacity.

The revisions came into effect Thursday, March 17.

Alfaro said he  was “very pleased” that his Board of Health made the decision “to reactivate economic activities at 100 percent.”

The mandatory use of face masks, in both indoor and outdoor spaces, will stay in effect. Temperature checks and “sanitary filters” will be scrapped, but hand gel must be provided at the entrances to all establishments.

In a statement, the Jalisco Health Department stressed that “the pandemic is not over” despite the downward trend in cases and hospitalizations, and advised citizens to continue respecting the existing safety mandates.
