Jalisco modifies Covid vaccine locations

As the quantity of anti-Covid vaccines applied each day in Jalisco declines, the state government is winding down operations at inoculation venues set up last year to handle large numbers of people on a daily basis.

The “Macromodulo” vaccine center in Tlajomulco and the one at the Universidad de Guadalajara’s CUCEI campus will both close on Friday, April 8. Meanwhile, the center at the Benito Juarez Auditorium in Guadalajara will operate at its current full capacity (24,000 doses a day) up until April 30. After this date, it will remain open through September, but with reduced personnel, offering up to 4,500 shots each day.

Starting in May, the Jalisco government will change its vaccine strategy, installing modules at 17 health centers in the Guadalajara metropolitan area (ZMG), and 37 in the rest of the state. Between 300 and 500 vaccines will be applied each day at the ZMG centers, while between 200 and 350 doses will be available regionally.

The Jalisco Health Department (SSJ) announced this week that AstraZeneca booster jabs have been given to 45 percent of the population, while 85 percent of the population has received at least one dose of anti-Covid vaccine. In total, Jalisco has received over 11 million doses of vaccines.
