Claudia Shenbaum, top contender for the Morena party candidacy in next year’s presidential election, included Chapala on her itinerary for a one-day visit to Jalisco on Sunday, July 9.
Arriving in town a few hours ahead of the Virgin of Zapopan, she took a quick walking tour of the waterfront Malecón before holding a dialogue with local fishermen on Lake Chapala water pollution issues that effect their livelihood.
