The FBI has issued a statement announcing that U.S. citizen Monica de Leon Barba, 30, was recently released by her captors after being kidnapped by five men in Tepatitlán, Jalisco on November 29, 2022 while walking her dog.
A $US40,000 reward had been offered for information leading to her release. The FBI said no arrests have been made, and did not say if the reward had been paid out.
De Leon Barba has since returned to the United States, reports said.The investigation is ongoing, the FBI said.
