Well-managed city parks receive recognition

The Parque Metropolitano and the Parque Colomos have become the first in Guadalajara to receive the coveted Green Flag Award certification.

pg10bThis award is a not-for-profit international accreditation program that recognizes and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.

The  Green Flag Award recognizes more than 2,000 locations in 15 countries around the world. The first spaces in Mexico to obtain this international award were the Parque Fundadora in Monterrey and the Parque La Mexicana in Santa Fe, Mexico City, in 2019.

Since June 2019, the National Association of Parks and Recreation of Mexico (ANPR Mexico) has partnered with Keep Britain Tidy to operate and promote the Green Flag Award in Mexico.

ANPR México spearheads the revitalization of parks and green spaces in Mexico, with a stated mission to improve the quality of the life of all citizens through the preservation of public spaces. They focus on professionalizing and linking the emerging industry of urban parks through education and the creation of public policies.

The Green Flag accreditation is annual and has to be updated each year to maintain the standards required.
