Jalisco revamps all 12 Pueblo Mágico committees

The Jalisco Tourism Department (Sectural) is in the process of revamping the citizen committees (comites ciudadanos) in the state’s 12 Magic Towns, among them Ajijic.

pg10Each renewed committee will be comprised of five to seven members that include a president who is either the municipality’s mayor or appointed public servant, a ºcoordinator named by the entire committee, up to four more voting board members, plus the non-voting technical secretary seat filled by the local government’s tourism director.

Qualifications for consideration as a candidate are being a Mexican citizen at least 18 years of age, minimum residency of at least six months, a clean criminal record, and experience or sufficient knowledge in the tourism sector. Individuals who have held government or political party positions in the past three years are not eligible. Documentation required of applicants include a birth certificate, official ID, proof of domicile, a letter of intent and curriculum vitae, among others.
