Avenida madero partially closed

The southbound lane of Avenida Madero from the intersection of Hidalgo to the waterfront was temporarily closed to through traffic this week as work crews were occupied with installing underground utility tubing and adding finishing touches to the adjacent sidewalk outside City Hall.


Fallen tree further damages historic chapel

The crumbling ruins of the ancient San Gaspar temple located on the outskirts of Atotonilquillo suffered a new structural blow Friday, April 21 when a 25-meter tall eucalyptus tree growing behind the building fell down causing a section of the side wall next to the altar to collapse.

Dance day showtimes

Día Internacional de la Danza will be celebrated Saturday, April 29 with more than 100 performers representing seven lakeside area dance troupes of different genres putting on a free show at the outdoor forum on the eastern leg of the Chapala Malecón.

Av. Madero rehab advances

Both lanes of the south leg of Chapala’s Avenida Madero were reopened for through traffic as of Saturday, April 8, just as throngs of Easter season visitors began arriving in town.

Future Living seminars open to the public

St. Andrew’s Anglican Church has scheduled a series of weekly seminars linked together under the title “Future Living” with the aim of helping local people gain knowledge on planning for care in the later stages of life, either at home or in one of the lakeside area’s senior resident facilities.
