School kids gear up for start of academic cycle

Thousands of local children will load up backpacks with pristine notebooks, brand new pencils and other implements of learning early Monday, August 20 to head off for classes on the first day of the 2012-2013 school year. Lakeside area students enrolled in the University of Guadalajara and its affiliated preparatoria high schools initiated their studies last week.


Manix revs up for silver anniversary

Pet sterilization clinic on a roll

Local animal support groups, the municipality of Chapala, local veterinarian Dr, Erik Sanabria, another local veterinarian and individual pet activists, led by Lucille Van Straaten and a host of volunteers have readied a second free sterilization clinic focusing primarily upon the pets of Mexican households.

Anglican fellowship on the road (again)

Christ Church Anglican Fellowship of Ajijic (sometimes referred to as St. Manix as the congregation meets at Manix Restaurant), will take their “Church-in-a-Box” worship service and a “Moveable Feast” for the picnic afterward to “La Sagrada Familia” (The Holy Family) congregation in Mazamitla on August 5.
