Steven Nousen will present “Ben Franklin Reflections” on Sunday, January 11, 10:15 a.m., at Open Circle at the Lake Chapala Society.

Dr. Benjamin Franklin (Steven Nousen) returns to Open Circle with a special presentation set in the Pennsylvania State House on July 4, 1776.  Aware that he may not live to see another Independence Day, the 83-year-old Franklin will reflect on the extraordinary progress the young nation has made over the past 13 years. Join Dr. Franklin as the United States starts the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Giving back

Elaine Howardson of So Chic Boutique and Ana Cristina Palacios of OHana Assisted Living in Ajijic held a Christmas party for 17 local families with 46 children from Ajijic.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of the customers of So Chic Boutique and OHana residents, 117 gifts were distributed, while 200 tamales were made and served by OHana staff members.

• American Legion Post 7 will host an all-you-can-eat large shrimp and fried chicken feast, 2 to 6 pm., with music by Jeffree White and BlackWater Rock and Blues Band. Tickets, 400 pesos, at the Legion. Proceeds to Charales de Chapala.
