Open house at International Institute

Ajijic’s International Institute will open its doors to the public on Saturday, July 7, noon to 4 p.m., to introduce the community to the school’s unique education model and learning programs available to junior- and senior-high level students for the 2012-1213 academic term.

Fourth of July restaurant options

Manix Restaurant is throwing what is being billed as a “real” Fourth of July Celebration on July 4, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the malecon next to the Ajijic pier. The buffet with grilled chicken, BBQ pork ribs, potato salad, fresh green salad, baked beans, vegetable salad and fresh fruit salad will be topped off with home made ice cream. Frankie Dino will provide the entertainment and a cash bar will be open. Tickets are 180 pesos and are on sale now. The telephone number is 766-0061.

Shriners helping outside the box

Shriner Noble Bill Phillips was recently in San Antonio Tlayacapan to have his car fixed. While in the workshop he noticed a young man without legs working by pulling himself from place to place around the shop on his knees.
