Navidad in Navidad
Christmas in Barra de Navidad brought together the spirit and efforts of many, both Mexican and expats, making this a most memorable Christmas celebration for the hundreds in attendance.
Reading matters
Reading is an exercise of the mind. Many of the folks traveling to Barra de Navidad/Melaque area find themselves engrossed in, and usually sharing great local literary discoveries. Special cafés, book exchanges, even simple libraries abound in the area. Here are but a few:
Fish or cut bait
“Fisher people” are coming back this week without tans and with stories of heavier oceans due to the rain and unsettled weather.
Memorial service
A memorial service for Landon White Hollander will take place Sunday, November 20 at Restaurante Frascati in the La Cruz Marina, from 3 to 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, his wife says. There will be a no-host bar and finger foods will be served.
Hello to all of our friends and neighbors who live full time in and around the tranquil communities of Melaque and Barra de Navidad. Welcome to all who are here as visitors and are just getting settled in from their northern treks.
Labour of Love
At least 18 years have passed since work began on the Church of San Felipe de Jesus in Barra’s barrio. With continuous effort by the community half of the church is complete.
