Online taxi service launched

With 200 affiliated vehicles, Mexico’s first online taxi service has launched in Guadalajara. Users can order taxis via the internet at www.taxiinteligente.com. The free real-time service allows customers to solicit the nearest available taxi to their current position. The website can also be accessed by internet-compatible mobile phones.

Traffic flowing freely as fines drop by half

As the Pan American Games near the end of their first week, Guadalajara’s Transportation Department (SVT) has relaxed its enforcement of minor traffic laws by half. The average number of fines issued has fallen from 3,000 to 1,500 per day, the agency is reporting.

Plush mall debuts in Tlaquepaque

Visitors to the crafts center of Tlaquepaque have a new deluxe shopping mall on their doorstep with the opening of the Forum Tlaquepaque at the corner of avenidas Rio Nilo and Marcelino Garcia Barragan. Situated one kilometer from the center of the popular Guadalajara suburb, the mall boasts the metro area’s second luxury Liverpool department store.
