Creative genius soars at Ajijic Globo Regata

Among all the local festivities tied into September’s celebration of Mexican Independence, none quite equal Ajijic’s Regata de Globos, the dazzling exhibition of hot-air balloons hand-crafted from rainbow-hued tissue paper, to be held Saturday, September 10 at the Cruz Azul soccer field. 

Barbara’s Bazaar in Ajijic thrives at 40-year milestone

In 1985, Ajijic resident and expat Barbara Weston recognized that the community had a market for second-hand merchandise that other foreigners wanted to dispose of before returning to their home countries—or passing away. With that in mind, she opened a small consignment shop on Calle Independencia, naming it Barbara’s Bazaar.

Date set for inauguration of San Antonio murals

Saturday, September 6, has been set for the symbolic unveiling of the San Antonio Tlayacapan mural beautification project. The inaugural event will take place at the town’s central plaza at 5 p.m. A cultural program will feature performances by the Ixtlahuacán de Membrillos Ballet Folklórico and Coro Redes y Cantos.

No Tyrants rally draws spirited crowd
