Chapala city council okays $US22.45 million budget

During 2015 the Chapala government will operate on a proposed spending budget of close to 331 million pesos (22.45 million dollars). The allocation approved by the city council on December 11 is still subject to review and ratification by the state congress.

Fiesta Mexicana slated at LCS

The Lake Chapala Society (LCS) in Ajijic will throw a big Mexico-themed shindig on Saturday, January 31, 2:30 to 7 p.m., as the principal 2015 fundraiser for its community education programs. 

New tennis star emerges at lakeside

Enrique Aguilar, a 15-year-old from Chapala, beat the eight top-ranked tennis players in Jalisco in his age category (under 16s) at the State Tennis Championship held last month at the  Puerta de Hierro Club in Guadalajara.  Apart from the trophy,  Aguilar earned himself a week-long trip to the Nick Bollettieri/IMG Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida.  He is seen here following his triumph with his coach Carlos Castro (right).

Chapala mayor and councilor bow out to hit campaign trail

Chapala Mayor Joaquín Huerta and city councilor Francisco Díaz have taken temporary leaves of absence to pursue runs in 2015 electoral races. Moisés Sanabria Gálvez, the municipality’s incumbent Sindico (legal administrator), was named to replace Huerta as interim mayor.
