Chapala celebrates Mexico’s Navy Day

Chapala’s Captania de Puerto (Harbormaster’s office) marked the June 1 commemoration of the Dia de la Marina (Navy Day) with a traditional ceremony held at the waterfront Malecon, followed by boating excursion to pay tribute to local men who have lost their lives in the waters of Lake Chapala.

Bi-monthly bike excursions

Ajijic town administrator Hector España keeps pulling new tricks out of his sleeve. Last week he and Chapala Sport Council chief Jesus Dario Hernandez buddied up to a lead family-oriented bicycle excursion around the village. The bi-monthly bike rides will be repeated June 7 and on alternately Fridays thereafter, wheeling out from the plaza at 7 p.m.

Wrestlers fight against bullying

Wrestlers Great Eku and Egipcio Junior muscled in on Chapala First Lady Marisela Navarro to promote the lucha libre spectacle scheduled Saturday, June 15, 7 p.m., as a fund-raising event to support DIF social assistance programs for local families.
