The Zapopan Department of Tourism is organizing a special gastronomic festival in the pleasant Andador 20 de Noviembre pedestrian walkway that connects the municipality’s famous arches with the huge Plaza de las Americas (or Juan Pablo II).

After a nine-month restoration period, Guadalajara’s Museo de la Ciudad has reopened to the public, debuting three temporary exhibitions with interesting local themes.

A highlight of Guadalajara’s May Cultural Festival, running from May 3 to June 4, is the “Ruta Escultura” (Sculpture Route), comprising 33 sculptures by 14 artists positioned along a three-kilometer route that can be either walked or cycled.

Masks from all over Mexico will be on show at the Refugio Cultural Center in Tlaquepaque, which hosts the first National Festival of Traditional Masks Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7.

Sunday, May 7, Guadalajara Animal Protection inspectors, supported by municipal police officers, secured 56 animals being illegally offered for sale at the Baratillo flea market, including one baby crocodile.
