Contemporary Dance 

The 18th Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea Onésimo González kicks off with two shows: “Touching Time” by the Shin Eunju Dance Company from South Korea on October 23 and “Ballenas, historias de Gigantes,” by Larumbe Danza (Spain) on October 25. Tlaquepaque is expecting up to 80,000 visitors for its fifth Festival de Muertos scheduled Thursday, October 29 through Monday, November 2. Around 100 separate events are planned around the municipality, with most happening in the suburb’s artistic downtown core. 

The Instituto Cultural Cabañas in Guadalajara has invited a team of professional restorers and conservationists to spend three months working on the 52 renowned fresco murals in its famous chapel.  Completed in 1939 by Jose Clemente Orozco, the works are considered the best examples of the art movement known as Mexican Muralism.

Guadalajara’s magnificent Museo de las Artes (Juarez and Enrique Diaz de Leon) is hosting an exhibit to mark the centenary of the birth of Mathias Goeritz, a sculptor of German origin who left a considerable artistic legacy in this country, including Guadalajara.
