When Rebecca Roth started a doll-making workshop inside the women’s section at the Puente Grande state penitentiary 11 years ago, she never imagined the dimensions the project would reach beyond the prison’s walls.
Outstanding artisans coming from far flung corners of Mexico will showcase a cornucopia of high-quality handicrafts and folk art at the 18th annual Feria Maestros del Arte, scheduled Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 10 at Chapala’s Club de Yates, located at the east end of Paseo Ramón Corona.
“Las muñecas de Gennytzin,” a private collection of 101 Barbie dolls donning one-of-a-kind costumes, will be showcased in an exhibit opening Saturday, October 5, 5 p.m., at Chapala’s Centro Cultural Antigua Presidencia (CCAP) gallery, Avenida Madero at Hidalgo.
