Concert trips
VIVA la Musica has planned seven bus trips to Guadalajara’s Teatro Degollado for the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra’s fall/winter season of concerts. The Friday concerts begin at 8:30 p.m.; Sunday’s are scheduled for 12:30 a.m. The trip dates and concert highlights are:

Coloratura soprano Katia Iran can be heard in concert at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church on Sunday, October 21, 4 p.m., in an event staged by My, My, How Nice Productions.
Hooray for VIVA!
A truly international quintet – clarinetist Xochitl Garcia and volinist Julio Serna of Mexico, cellist Laila Kannina of Latvia, violist Robert Nelson of the United States and violinist Robert Markus of Slovakia – did more than simple justice to the evening’s musical fare at the VIVA la Musica concert held last week at the Gonzalez Gallo Cultural Center in Chapala.
Nudes
A group of artists who have been meeting weekly in a private studio to draw and paint from life – usually the female form – will open an exhibition of their work on Thursday, September 20, 5-9 p.m. at the Art and Sol Gallery in Ajijic.
