Marco Zaragoza debuts a dazzling new art form at an exhibit opening on Saturday, February 4, 4-6 p.m. at the Ajijic Cultural Center.

Jewish films

The Third Annual Jewish Film Festival will get underway on Sunday, February 5 with the showing of a short film, “The Wall” and “Infidel,” beginning at 2 p.m. (starting early to accommodate Superbowl fans). All the other films will be shown, one each Sunday for six weeks, at 3 p.m. at the movie theater at Plaza Bugambilias.

Hymn festival

A hymn festival to be directed by distinguished choir conductor Thomas Pavlechko will be held on Sunday, February 5, 4 p.m. at Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church in Riberas del Pilar. Pavlechko, who is a widely published composer of choral anthems, liturgical music, Psalm settings and more than 100 hymn tunes, will direct the Saint Andrew’s choir.

Tickets are on sale for the performance by Sinfonica de San Luis Potosi  at the Auditorio de la Ribera del Lago in La Floresta on Thursday, January 19.

Singing for the brain begins at LCS

A weekly sing-along will begin Monday, January 16, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the gazebo at the Lake Chapala Society.

Musical Christ story

The story of Christ was told in an amazing musical presentation by five talented musicians at the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services of the Lake Chapala Baptist Church.

The talents were those of Eric Callis on guitar, Patrick Dumouchel, vocals and percussion; Bob Hendrick, vocals, mandolin, banjo and steel guitar; Judy Hendrick, vocals and keyboard and eight-year-old Miguel Nguyen, vocals and percussion.

Nguyen captivated the congregation with his presentation of the entire genealogy of Matthew, Chapter 1.
