Visitors to “El Hombre Al Desnudo” (Man in the Nude) at Museo de las Artes may be surprised to learn that this impressive exhibit in Guadalajara’s premier museum had already been creating a stir long before its by-invitation-only inauguration Tuesday.
The nine-day FESTA arts festival kicked off Thursday, August 1 with a presentation of the play “MinotauriKa,” a modern-day spin on the Greek minotaur legend.
Martes de Musica
Free classical performances by talented musicians are held each Tuesday at the Degollado Theater. No tickets are sold – just turn up. Early birds may get to sit in a semi-circle on the stage, in close proximity to the performers. This month’s schedule is August 5: recital with Karen Barraza (soprano), Francisco Brito (tenor) and Andrés Sarré (piano); August 12: Juan Pardo (trombone), Timothy Welch (piano), Guadalupe Corona (harp); August 19: Classical musicians from San Jose, California, with the Nima Quartet; August 26: recital with flautist Nancy Ulate and invited guests.
