Firstly, we would like to thank Tom Thompson for his letter reminding us how important and easy it is to separate our garbage. We too, are interested in a better way of keeping stuff out of the landfills and off of our streets.

Your recent front page story of the “garbage” crisis that plagues the Chapala municipality hopefully will generate an awareness that part of the solution is to separate trash at the source – something we have done in our household ever since Ajijic Limpio was around!

I’d like to make a few comments about your latest edition (July-2-8):

I am most grateful to Julie Hensley of Chapala for sharing with us her warm and buttery relationship with her mailman, making his daily rounds with home delivery.

This is in answer to a letter to the editor from Harvey Bliss.
He states that the Mexican Postal Service is the worst. Well, some of us think it is pretty good. I get letters and packages every week. I get items from Ebay all the time.
What I did was meet my mailman and make friends with him. I tip him, then give him a coke. I get my items in a pretty timely manner, usually about 30 to 45 days for packages coming from out of the country. It does happen.
So Harvey, go out and meet your mailman, write your name and address on a piece of paper, give him a coke and he will be your next best friend. Mine is!
