Teenage drunk driver kills three youngsters

Authorities say Luis Enrique Gomez Flores was at the wheel of a GMC Envoy that initially struck a 12-year-old cyclist, and then careened into a teenage couple and finally struck a seven-year-old girl on a skateboard.  Three of the four, including the two children, died.

According to police, Gomez Flores was driving at 100 kilometers per hour – twice the speed limit – and in the wrong direction down a one-way street when the accident occurred at 10:30 p.m.

Gomez Flores, who is a resident of the neighborhood, was also driving without a license.  Two passengers in the vehicle fled the scene before police officers arrived.

Medics reached the accident scene within minutes and said they had to protect Gomez Flores from the wrath of neighbors.

Gomez Flores tested positive for DUI, with a blood alcohol reading of 242 milligrams.

Police said when questioned he was unable to remember anything about the accident.
