Traffic survey highlights many concerns

Unlike many other large cities around the world, Guadalajara makes it difficult for people living in the suburbs to park their cars and take public transport to centralized zones.

Eighty-eight percent of residents have a negative impression of the city’s bus system, according to the recent public consultation on the impending “reorganization”  of the bus transportation network.
Sixty percent of respondents said they believed the fare of six pesos per trip was high given the quality of service provided.

Among suggestions submitted to improve the service were the modernization of the bus fleet, restricting drivers to eight-hour days, restructuring of routes and automatic payment with cards.
In total, 17,747 people took part in the survey.
