The Nariz Roja charity is opening a hostel for women and children who are obliged to travel to Guadalajara for cancer treatment at the city’s public Hospital Civil.
Patients will be welcomed from neighboring states such as Nayarit, Michoacán and Colima, as well as other parts of Jalisco. Preference will be given to patients with limited economic resources.
While the hostel will be able to accommodate as many as 40 women and children, space will be restricted at first due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nariz Roja raised more than 12 million pesos in donations in order to customize the building, which is located a few blocks from the Hospital Civil Fray Antonio Alcalde.
All food at the hostel will be provided free of charge, and children will be able to continue with their education while staying there.
