United States Vice President Joe Biden met with President Peña Nieto during a two-day visit to Mexico on September 19 and 20.
Biden launched the US-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue, and also participated in an educational event as part of the Bilateral Forum on Education, Research and Innovation, which seeks to “expand economic opportunities for the citizens of the two countries and promote greater access to post-secondary education” for traditionally under-served demographic groups in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The United States and Mexico have a long history of educational collaboration. More than 18,000 Mexican and U.S. university students study in each other’s countries annually.
