Friday night is flamenco night: Four acclaimed performers take to the tablao at Casa del Sol Inn

Emilia Galvez has been the catalyst for many innovative peña flamenco performances at Lakeside for almost a decade. She is an artist-in-residence at La Cochera Cultural and works with dozens of flamenco dancers and musicians throughout Latin America and Europe.

On Friday, February 27, she will take to the tablao alongside three well-known flamenco artists at a dinner/performance at Casa del Sol Inn in Ajijic.

Rodrigo Robles (above) is a flamenco artist and producer who, together with his partner, teaches flamenco and contemporary dance at their studio, Tibiritabara, in Guadalajara. He produces tablos there once a month, and also with Las Cabales, a Guadalajara flamenco institution for more than 65 years.

Guitarist Fernando Martinez (above) learned flamenco guitar as a young child from his father, one of the pioneers of flamenco guitar in Mexico.

Santiago Maisterra (above) has been a flamenco vocalist for 15 years, and began studying the genre in Granada, Spain. He also plays guitar and saxophone.

All of these three musicians have spent years studying flamenco in Spain and often return there to keep up with style changes.
