• Stan and Linda Foster perform a classic country tribute, 1 p.m. at Mama’s Musical Showroom to benefit Mama Cleo’s Boys’ Home. Tickets, 500 pesos, including a meal, are available at Kinda Bazaar.

• Renee and Benji perform from 6 to 8 p.m. at Casa Lule, Ocampo 180 in Ajijic.

SUNDAY

• Local band La Sopa presents Groove Station, a live set of original music fusing pop, funk, jazz and Latin rhythms, at a free concert at the Centro Cultural Gonzalez Gallo in Chapala, 12:30 p.m.

• The Lake Chapala Orchestra presents “Shimmering Strings,” Saturday, July 11, 4 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, San Lucas 19 in Riberas del Pilar. The program includes Grieg’s Holberg Suite, Bach’s Violin Concerto No. 2, Jacob’s Concertino for Clarinet and Britten’s Simple Symphony. Exhibits

Centro Cultural Ajijic opens “Arte Organico,” a first solo exhibit by local muralist and painter Mario Ramírez Saturday, June 27, 5:30 p.m. The exhibition features more than 20 new works in acrylic, watercolor, oil and mixed media. The Ixtlacateotl folkloric ballet and Mariachi Juvenil de Axixic will perform on the esplanade during the opening.

• Local artists Rigoberto Navarro and Efrén González celebrate the fourth anniversary of the Ajijic Museo de Arte (AMA) with a new exhibit of sculpture and paintings. The new exhibit also showcases the rotation of works from the entire AMA collection, representing dozens of Mexican and foreign Lakeside artists. AMA is located at Flores Magón 3, West Ajijic, open Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Dance

• Laboratorio Bailar en Sueños takes the stage Friday, June 26, 6 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y Artes de la Ribera. Free entry.

• The Escuela de Danza de la Ribera and the Joven Ballet HH will present Suite del Ballet El Corsario y Mucha Danza Saturday, June 27, 4 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera (CCAR). Tickets, 130 pesos, are available at the box office.

• See a celebration of the trajectory of the Nemian Danza Escénica, and the artistic legacy of its founders, Isabel Beteta and Rosario Verea, Sunday, July 5, 1 p.m. at the CCAR.
