Disturbing stats revealed this week by Chapala’s press chief have put me on edge.
Two weeks ago she announced that 16 municipal government employees had tested positive for Covid-19 infection. Seven days later the figure jumped to 52. By the end of this week 60 new cases had been added to the roster.
That brings the January total so far to 112 workers afflicted with the virus. That equates to 14 percent of the entire work staff. How many of those people unknowingly spread infection among members of their families, to friends, neighbors and merchants?
