Last November I had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with one of our community’s longest-living expat residents who wanted to tell me her life story.
At age 99 she had a lot to recall before the final chapter closed. She implored me not to write a run-of-the-mill obituary when the time came.
Beautiful, charming and multi-talented Jacqueline Lodema Hodges met her maker on Monday, September 2. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her dearest loved ones, son John Walker and daughter Sally Carlisle Leonard.
Not to ignore the pesky if obligatory obit details, Jackie was born February 7, 1924 in Sacramento, California. She resided in Carmel and Los Angeles for many years. She first lived at Lakeside in the early 1970s, and in San Miguel de Allende for three years during the 1990s, finally returning to Ajijic for the rest of her life.
