Coronavirus & internet overload?

Yes, I know the coronavirus is not a computer virus, but some of the tech news outlets I follow have mentioned some possible effects coronavirus (Covid-19) could have on the internet.

This news comes in response to increased chatter about how people should not go out and should stay in and work from home via the internet.

It is estimated that in the United States, 42 million people or up to 30 percent of the workforce are able to work from home if need be. In an effort to protect workers and help stem the spread of Covid-19, companies, including JPMorgan Chase and Twitter, have already told employees who can work from home to stay home.  Add to this the fact that some schools are looking to keep students out of harm’s way by conducting classes by online video. The worry in the tech world is that all of this could create too much pressure on the internet’s servers.
