World Wetlands Day has come again, this time with a special significance for the people of Teuchitlán, because February 2 marked the tenth anniversary of the acceptance of Presa la Vega as a Ramsar site, “a wetland of international importance.”
Teuchitlán, now internationally famous itself for its Guachimontones archeological ruins, hosted a whole range of events on this occasion, beginning with an early bird-watching workshop and continuing with talks and activities throughout the morning. But the most eye-catching event of the day was, without a doubt, the inauguration of two outstanding murals created by internationally recognized artists of the highest caliber.
