Consul general packing her bags, replacement due September 17

Susan Abeyta, the U.S. consul general in Guadalajara, is coming to the end of her three-year diplomatic posting and will shortly be leaving the city along with her husband Victor.

Her successor will be Tayna Anderson, the current consul in Barcelona, Spain, who will take up her post on September 17, consulate officers have confirmed.

Anderson’s Linked In site describes her as “a versatile manager and results-oriented supervisor with 20+ years of recognized achievement and creative, motivational leadership in international program design and execution, USG VIP and foreign media relations, strategic planning, and U.S. foreign policy formulation and implementation.”

The site notes that Anderson is fluent in Arabic, Spanish and English, with formal training in Portuguese, Tagalog and French. She has served under the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.

In her three-year stint in Barcelona, Anderson “directed activities of 37 employees handling political, commercial, economic, and public affairs or administrative functions and security.”

As well as Washington D.C. and Spain, Anderson has served in the Philippines, Tunisia, Egypt, Oman, Morocco, Kuwait and Iraq.

Anderson has a Masters in International Strategic Studies from the National Defense University/National War College.
