Of the new programs being unveiled by the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) the most valuable may be Experimenta Mexico, a new multi-cultural series of programs for both Mexicans and expats.
Each program in the series invites attendees to participate in sensory experiences that will allow participants to taste, touch and feel the richness of Mexico’s traditional cuisine, music, and art.
The events will explore a variety of aspects of the essence of Mexico in educational and entertaining ways. To experience Mexico is to experience life. Indulge in the heart of Mexico on the shore of beautiful Lake Chapala.
Dinero, Tequila y Amor … no hay otra cosa mejor – a traditional toast at fiestas – is the title of the premier event on Friday, August 8, 5-7 p.m. The translation (Money, Tequila and Love … nothing is better) describes this first program well.
The rich tradition of tequila in Jalisco will unfold during the two-hour session. Attendees will earn about Weber blue agave, the vital role of the jimador (field harvester) and the traditional varieties of tequila. A lakeside tequila producer will present the program and explain the complexities of making tequila and offer a sip or two of Mexico’s favorite spirit. Those who want to own a tequila label will even learn how to accomplish that act.
Those wishing to attend must sign up at LCS before August 1. Members will pay 200 pesos, with non-members paying 250 pesos.
The next program in the series on August 22, 1-3 p.m. will feature mole, Mexico’s complex variety of sauces made from dozens of ingredients.
