The Lake Chapala Society drew a big crowd of rockers last Saturday for a rollicking revival of the 1969 Woodstock music festival. Scores of Age of Aquarius survivors decked out in rainbow-hued outfits to get in the groove for the four-hour blast from the past.
Guadalajara’s Kosmic Atomic set the good-vibes mood with a selection of familiar golden oldies mastered after two weeks of intensive rehearsals. The repertoire included hit songs of Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin and other performers who appeared at the iconic gathering.
Instead of indulging in the illicit substances that were so prevalent at the time, party-goers fueled up on mock Magical Brownies, a tropical fruit and cane alcohol substitute for hallucinogenic Kool-Aid and icy tequila drinks.
